Rundle Studio
Grade 7-12 Division
Through our Pathways to Learning program, the Studio encourages students to strive for success in academics, build solid character, and engage in co-curricular activities. Although we want students to achieve the highest level of academics, we believe that focusing on character development is paramount.
Through social interactions, learning experiences, and co-curricular activities, students continuously develop their character and self-confidence. The Studio delivers curriculum from Alberta Education at grade level with no modifications.
Please read below to learn more about how the Pathways to Learning enrich our Studio Program.
Academics Built for Accessibility and Success

Academics at Rundle Studio are designed to meet learners where they are and help them grow with clarity, strategy, and purpose. Through engaging coursework, hands-on learning, and personalized support, students build strong foundations across all core subjects and explore their interests through a wide range of options.
At Rundle Studio, each student is placed in a TA with a Teacher Advisor. These are division groups with students mixed in grades 7, 8 & 9 in the junior high, and 10, 11, & 12 in the senior high. Students are required to check in with their TA each morning and at the end of the day. TAs will meet with students to review announcements, check agendas, and help guide students on a daily basis. The TA is the main point of contact for all parents.
The lead teacher (LT) delivers curricular content using clear, direct instruction to all students in the grade. After the lesson, students move to small breakout groups where the teacher advisor (TA) consolidates the learning through highly dynamic, engaging, and personalized activities.
While in TA groups, students ask questions, interact with each other, collaborate on activities, and demonstrate their understanding of the day’s material. Once the lesson is complete, the TA connects with the LT to review student progress and prepare for the next lesson based on the results.

At Rundle Studio, physical education is an essential part of student development. All students in Grades 7 through 9 are required to participate in PE classes. In Grade 10, students must complete PE 10, in alignment with Alberta Education graduation requirements.
To support a positive and inclusive experience, students are provided with time to change into appropriate attire and engage in live instruction. During these sessions, the teacher activates Zoom’s “Focus Mode” to help students feel safe and comfortable while participating, ensuring privacy and minimizing distractions. This approach fosters a supportive environment for all learners to actively engage in physical activity.
At Rundle Studio, Health class is an important part of supporting students’ overall well-being. Through interactive lessons, students explore topics such as mental health, nutrition, relationships, personal safety, and decision-making. Designed to be engaging and relevant, Health class encourages open discussion in a safe and respectful virtual environment. Students gain valuable knowledge and skills to support their physical, emotional, and social development both inside and outside the classroom.
A Character-Driven Journey from the Online World to In-Person

At Rundle Studio, character development is at the heart of every experience, guiding students as they move between online learning and meaningful in-person connection. Through online collaboration, and daily social interactions, students build the skills and relationships that help them grow into confident, connected individuals.
Rundle’s character education program creates a kind and caring community with positive and healthy relationships for students, staff, and parents.
We believe that social and emotional learning is just as important as academic learning. Moreover, we want to inspire our students to practice and commit to moral and ethical behaviours.
Rundle Studio’s junior high program supports character and leadership development. With support and guidance, the student council creates engaging opportunities to build community. Students are also involved in developing and creating programs and clubs to reflect our core values: togetherness, kindness, curiosity, and wellness.
It is important for students to connect with others. Rundle Studio provides opportunities for students to reach out and connect with their communities in a variety of ways. By reaching out to help those in need in the community, volunteering for a local organization, or spending time with family and friends, connecting with others is an important piece of a student’s character development.
Through co-curricular activities, such as esports, students engage in opportunities to collaborate, strategize, communicate, and interact with peers from a variety of places all over Canada and around the world.
During the school day, students are given opportunities to connect in a variety of interpersonal ways as we recognize the value of social connections for teens. While being supervised in a safe environment, students can make choices and engage with each other through fun experiences, allowing for creative and social skill development.

Beyond the Classroom

At Rundle Studio, support extends far beyond classroom instruction. Our student services team works closely with each individual, helping them build the strategies, habits, and executive functioning skills that strengthen their day-to-day learning. As students move through the program, they also receive personalized transition planning, career exploration, and post-secondary guidance to help them take confident next steps. Together, these supports ensure every student feels prepared, capable, and ready for life beyond Rundle.
The Traverse Post-Secondary Transition Program (The Traverse) is a Rundle-developed program that supports our graduating students as they transition into post-secondary education.
As demonstrated in academic research, students are most successful in transitioning into post-secondary education learning environments if they have the following skills and attributes: self-determination, learning strategies, and the ability to self-advocate.
For full details, please visit our Traverse webpage.
Student Services provides academic guidance and social and emotional counselling to ensure each student is well-supported in all areas of their life. This work aligns with Rundle’s mission to help students discover their potential and prepare them for an ever-changing world.
Qualified, knowledgeable, and skilled counsellors are available virtually to support Studio students.
Student Services works closely with teachers to track student progress, and monitor academic and personal development.
The department also provides comprehensive career and post-secondary support for students from junior high through high school.
